My New Obsession-Cooking Supplies!

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a picky eater. That’s why it is so funny that lately I have been bringing back cookies ideas and items from our trips! It began in Jamaica. I loved the Red Stripe Sorrel that I drank. It was not possible to bring that home, but I was able to bring home some tea with Sorrel and honey. We also brought home Jerk seasoning and some rum, of course. This may have opened a flood gate that Andy wishes he had kept closed. When we went to Africa, it became an afternoon treating Morocco for us to have crepes with bananas and Nutella. I did not bring anything home for this, but when we returned I became obsessed with finding a crepe maker. I bought one so that we could enjoy crepes at home. Yum! Before we even left for Morocco, I decided that I wanted a tagine from Morocco. I found one at the beginning of our trip and much to Andy’s dismay, we carried it to Egypt and back as a carry-on (one time having to bribe a security officer to get it one the plane as a carry-on!). It is hand painted and beautiful and is as much for cooking as for display in our home. I will say that I have not perfected my recipe yet, but it was good when we made it. It does take 3 hours of cooking, so not a weekly meal for us. I love that you can basically throw anything into the pot and make it work. Another thing I became obsessed with in Morocco was mint tea. It is still a sweet pleasure that I enjoy at home (including as I write this post). I did not purchase any tea while we were there, but when I got home I really missed it. Google and Amazon to the rescue. I googled what kind of tea they use in Morocco (gunpowder) and how to make Moroccan mint tea. I then ordered some Moroccan tea off Amazon and began growing mint. This is something that you might be interested in on your next trip. It’s a great way to keep your trip memories alive even when you come home. Just this past weekend we had some ribs with jerk seasoning that we brought back from Jamaica. They were amazing! I was even interested in a fondue set from Chamonix after an apes day snack, but the ones for sale seemed too big to travel with and too big for just Andy and I.
