La Belle Chamonix
The beautiful Chamonix

Well, we made it and Chamonix is amazing! The beautiful scenery, the amazing people the skiing! It is great. The town itself small enough to learn how to get around easily but big enough that there are things to do besides just skiing. Everywhere you look you just want to take a picture to capture the beauty. My favorite treat is crepes with Nutella and banana, so of course, I had to find it the first day we were here. I did not search for long as I found a place less than a 2 minute walk from where we are staying. I am in heaven! Andy was not surprised at all that I found a place that quickly, he says I have a hidden talent for finding this exact treat. Chamonix has so many quaint stores for souvenir shopping, good restaurants and plenty of grocery stores too. Tip: If you eat at a restaurant on the main street which is pedestrian only, Rue Joesph Vallot, know that they ask for a tip and there is no way to put in no tip. Stick to the other streets which have restaurants just as good and do not add tips. The exception we have found is Poco Loco, where I found my crepes with Nutella and banana. The main streets restaurants are also more expensive than if you venture off to the side streets. The people are so friendly! I have been able to practice my French in a safe space. In fact, once they find out you are American and trying to speak French, they compliment you after every sentence. All in all, a 10 of 10 experience.
